NEW: We now have a partner in Venezuela who will be looking after things for us at that end. We were finding communication with some of the artists difficult due to the remoteness of some of the workshops. From now all queries and orders will be going through Viveca Baiz, the film-maker and children's author and illustrator resident in Caracas.

Arte Venezuela is an established company dedicated to showcasing Venezuelan artists producing Venezuelan handicrafts with traditional materials in a new and contemporary way. Our aim is to offer a wide variety of creations from Venezuelan craftsmen and artisans throughout the country. At the moment we are concentrating on the north-western states of Merida, Barinas and Lara.

We are UK-based but travel frequently to Venezuela to seek out new sources and replenish stocks from established sources. We have visited all of the workshops on these pages personally and brought back a variety of samples from each artist. We were at the International "Diplomats'" Fair in Kensington a few years ago (read the report above) and were received with great admiration.

At any one time, we might stock only a small portion of the items on display on the artists' pages and in the on-line shop itself, but we have close personal contacts with the designers and their agents, and so can guarantee deliveries that are as rapid and efficient as e-mail, the postal service and 21st century communication technology can achieve.

Latin-American arts and crafts in general have had much exposure on a global level over the last few years, but .Venezuelan handicrafts and craftsmen and women have long been neglected outside Venezuela, and we aim to remedy this by introducing artists young and old to represent the enormous variety of offerings that are available.

Please browse the site and contact us should you find anything of interest. We will contact the artisans on your behalf and arrange all the details.
